Word does not appear when I click an email link

I am running Office 2003. When I click on an email link in an HTML email
displayed in the Outlook
reading panel that is supposed to bring up Word acting as email editor, my
computer (XP SP2) crashes. Any ideas?

Mary

When you click on a link, it should bring up your browser, not your email
editor. Your HTML file association must be wrong. Do you have a non standard
browser?

Not if it's a mailto link, which is what the OP said it was (actually he
said "email link", but I know what he meant).
