Word Editor with multipart/alternative

Is there a way to set the Word "Send to mail recipient as HTML" tool to send
both HTML and plain text through Entourage? It's a great feature being
able to use the Word editor for email, and I usually use HTML (Rich Text)
email, but some recipients of Word-edited messages may not like it if there
is no "alternative" plain text version.

It doesn't seem t be possible. The only users who would see the alternative
plain text in regular HTML messages are people whose email clients can't
read HTML but do understand "multipart/alternative" messages. There aren't
many of those is use and they're awfully old (Emailer on Mac, Outlook 95 on
Windows). But if that's what you want, you could still use my Send Complex
HTML X script in Entourage. From

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - **2004**, X
or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.

I was wondering about email still commonly used today, such as webmail
programs (Horde, SquirrelMail, etc.) that do not read HTML email. I doubt
there are very many Outlook 95 or Emailer users left, although there are
still a number of "plain text only" webmail users.

Really? Can you name one? The reason I ask is because webmail seems like the
place where you absolutely *would* support HTML mail. The biggest barrier is
the ability to display HTML, and in a browser that's a given.

Horde. I use that for webmail and if there's no plain text alternative then
it won't open the message; it just lists "unknown" attachments. Another
(although not webmail) device that often doesn't handle HTML or multipart is
"MailStation" (the basic model anyway). I don't know what formats mobile
phones can receive.
