word,excelt ect wont open from outlook 2000

I am having trouble in outlook opening word or ecxel documents. When I double
click from outlook on a word or excel attachement, a blanc word or excel
application starts up without the document. If I leave that one blank
application open and try it again, it will work. It will not work without the
first blank application open though.

This only happens to certain users on a few specific machines, some user
names dont get that problem on those same machines.

Does this sound like a perimissions issue?
We have tried to uninstall and reinstall office 2000 with no success.

Any ideas or advice?

It sounds like you need to recreate the file associations for the
applications. Go to Start/Run and run these commands:

winword /r
excel /regserver

Note the space before the forward slash.

If the above commands do not rectify the problem then try them again
but this time use the full path for the application. In the Run
dialog, click the Browse and navigate to the executables. Then add the
/regserver switch to the end of the path outside the quotes. The
command would look something like:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE\EXCEL.EXE" /regserver
