word pad

Hi
I hopesome one can help me or send me to were i can find
the answer.I have windows 98 and I have several documents
sent to me but my word pad will not allow me to read or
print.It gives me an error (illegal movement program will
shit down contact program vender)How do I correct orwhat
soft wear do I need.I am also attending school and need to
down load book's but it will do the same thing can some
one help Please.I am new so laugh.lue
