I read the page : www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/seven/ch23/SecA06.htm and cannot get the "Advanced Encryption Options" to work. Does anyone have any tips?
I am running winXP with all updates, Office 2003 Pro with all updates. Going through regedit, I do not have the ...\Policies\Microsoft\Office key or any following keys, and I do not have the Security key in ...\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common . I added all the keys manually, and cannot change the default encryption level.
I can change the level of password encryption manually by doing File -> Save As -> Tools -> Security Options and change the level there. After setting that once, for new docs it doesn't default to the new level. No changes I have made (according to above doc) have been able to set the default encryption level.
