Word start up message

When I start Word in Office 2003, I get a message saying 'Preparing to
install...' Then it disappears and after about 8 seconds Word starts, but
there are no upper and lower margins on the page.
Can anyone help.

Try Help, Detect and Repair

Problem two.
Put the cursor at exactly the top of the "page" and click to toggle
"show white space".
