Word wants to change any date

G

Gabriele Hauschild

I have Word 2000 as part of Office Professional 2000,
SR1-SP3 on Win98SE.

When I type any date within an area of text and want to
then enter a carrier_ return, Word wants to autom_atically
insert the date in figures.
For example, if I type (all the following without the
quotes)

"September 23, 2004" and then hit the return key, Word
then adds the following:
"-09-22"
so that what is written is now:
"September 23, 2004-09-22"

How can I turn off this behaviour by Word?

I would be g_rateful for any solution.

Type a space before pressing Enter. Seriously, it's either that or give up
AutoComplete entirely. Alternatively, if you're typing today's date in a
predictable place (such as at the top of a letter), you can avoid this by
inserting a CreateDate field in the document template so that the date is
inserted for you automatically.
