Word-wrap does not function properly in multiple line cell entries

I occassionally enter multiple lines of text with carriage
returns in a single cell. I noticed that when the number
of lines of text I type exceeds a certain amount, word-
wrapping in this shell does not function properly (no word-
wrap at the right border, or at the bottom border or the
cell). Notice: I use multiple font styles inside the same
cell, in case that provides an explanation(?)

Anyone has a clue as to why this happens?

unfortunately after some nimber of characters are entered
in a cell, EXCEL does not recognize any line formating for
additional characters. I don't remember right now how
many characters that is.
