Hi All,

I have recently installed Word X and FileMaker Pro 7 on a new eMac. I have a
letter that I have used mail merge on in the past and am trying to do the
same on the new system. The FileMaker file has been converted to the new
programand and the file and program run fine.

When I open the Word file it tells me that it cannot find the data file.
When I select the FMP 7 file Word isn't able to open it. My question is:
isn't Word X compatible with FMP 7? Thanks!

Word X was developed before FileMaker Pro 7 was released. It doesn't
know the fp7 file format.

It appears Word 2004 also doesn't understand the fp7 format, probably as
there wasn't much time between the release of FileMaker Pro 7 and Word
2004.

It's a shame you can't export from FileMaker Pro 7 to fp5 format.

To be able to do your mail merge you will have to export the data into a
format that Word X understands, like Excel.
