I'd like to be sure Word spell-checks reviewers' Comments as well as checking
the main text - it seems erratic, whether it does/doesn't. I'm using W2000
in WindXP and get manuscripts from many clients.
Whether Word spell checks or not depends on two things
1. With which language formatting the comment text has been formatted, or the
language defined for the Comment Text style.
2. Which languages are installed and activated on your machine.
In the Tips section of my website you'll find an article that describes how Word
handles language formatting. You should read it so that you understand what
you're dealing with. Most likely, the documents you're receiving have formatted
the comments (or the style) with a language not installed on your machine, so
spell check doesn't "see" them.
