Wordpad conversion

Within the last week, whenever I save a Word document as a Word document, when I go to open it again, it is a Wordpad document. Any idea why this is happening? I don't recall ever using Wordpad. It seems to be doing some kind of autosave with it.

I suspect (but not sure since you don't say) you are opening the doc
files via Windows Explorer, and Windows is configured to associate doc
files with Word Pad. Change the association for *.doc files back to
Word in Explorer: Menu: Tools/Folder Options, Tab: File Types. For
details on how to do this search "help" for "file association".

If you had opened the doc files in Word, you should have had no problem.

Even easier is just to go to Start | Run and type

winword /r

then press Enter. Note that there is a space before the forward slash.
