Write error when publishing

I have added an Imagefader applet to one of my webpages
and when I try to publish I get an error.

Server error
Write error .HDarea3.JPG.temp (my pic file)

Can you explain what the problem is? I did not use the
picture gallery because I wanted a self advancing
slideshow that fills the whole screen with a fade in
between pictures.

FP does not allow files starting w/ dot as in: .HDarea3.JPG

The . is in the error message but not in my pic file or

Have you cleared you FP temp files and is the image imported into your FP web before you save the page and publish
If so try renaming the image and try again
