XPSP2 and Outlook 2002 and auto dialing my ISP to send items in Out box?

Since installing XPSP 2 I have lost the setting that made my computer
automatically dial my ISP when there are e-mails ready for sending.

Is this "improved" security or just my bad luck?

I've searched Outlook help and the MS Office website for clues but no luck!

Any thoughts welcome.
