Yahoo POP server

I get an error message stating Logging on as [email protected]
Verification Failed: "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" (-17900 )

I checked, several times and both my username and password are entered correctly. My friend is having the same issue with her yahoo account....Any suggestions are welcomed.

What SMTP are you using? Don't try relaying using yahoo's SMTP. Most ISPs
also require you to use their SMTP address when sending.

Incoming Mail Server : pop.mail.yahoo.com absolutely NO advanced settings
(contrary to what yahoo stated)
Outgoing mail server : (what ever your ISP uses for outgoing mail- yahoo
wanted us to use theirs which we never could get to work) no advanced
settings for outgoing server.

Is it a paid-for Yahoo account? Free US Yahoo e-mail accounts (@yahoo.com)
cannot be accessed via POP. Have you been able to connect to your accounts
in other mail clients before?

Hi, I'm getting exactly the same issue with my Yahoo account (yahoo.co.uk) - Diane, sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie at this and didn't really understand your reply - (What on earth is an SMTP??) could you suggest an easy solution for idiots like me?

If you are unsure about a term, check the glossary on the Entourage Help

If you look at your Account window you will see that SMTP is required on
every account. <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/accounts/pop_settings.html>
