4/15 updates causing GetSystemD not found error

datamama

Automatic Windows updates for Vista and Office 2007 products were installed
today 4/15/2009. Upon reboot got this error on many apps - including all
2007 Office products.

The procedure entry point GetSystemD" could not be located in the dynamic
link library KERNEL32.dll.

When I try to uninstall the updates, I get message that no updates are
installed on my PC - although the Windows Update website shows a long list of
updates for my PC.

Peter,

As I said before .. these are automatic updates. I do not specify a target
location.

I did a search for kernel32.dll and found this:
x86_microsoft-windows-kernel32_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18215_none_93b81a93564f1da0_kernel32.dll_ef9eca7e
in C:\Windows\winsxs

I presume you have scanned your drive with an up to date antivirus package?
Used an on-line service like Housecall from Trend Micro?
