Add connector points to text boxes for creating decision flowchart

Q

Quick Reference

Round autoshapes have 8 connector points, but boxes have 4 and I can't add
any to provide 2 or more choices at the bottom of a Text Box. The 2 would be
very useful for creating Decision flowcharts. Each box starts with something
to do, then a question, then at bottom multiple choices such as Yes and No,
leading to other boxes. This is easy in Visio, but in Word 2007, none of the
following has worked:
• Side connector points of a box are far above the bottom Yes and No
• Grouping 2 little shapes at bottom of box leaves them in place as box
lengthens with added text
• Freeform can have added points but can't contain text
• An oval containing text wastes space inside and outside its borders
• Adding a separate decision diamond below the text box wastes space and has
to be moved up/down manually as text is added/deleted in box above
These decision flowcharts work well to comunicate complex business processes
(I first saw them in a Microsoft book) and if made and edited in Word would
be much more widely available. Thanks for any ideas.

When I use autoshapes in Word, what look like connector points are actually
resizing handles/nodes. When using the autoshapes in excel and powerpoint
the connector points turn red when trying to connect an arrow, but they stay
blue in Word.

So my question is are those really connector points referenced in the
previous post? If so, how do I enable them?

The shape must be in a drawing canvas.
