MathType 5.1 for Macintosh is Now Shipping

New version supports Microsoft Office 2004

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- July 26, 2004 -- Design Science announced
today the release of MathType 5.1 for Macintosh that works with
Microsoft Office 2004. MathType is the full-featured,
professional version of the Equation Editor in Microsoft Office,
AppleWorks and many other products, and is used by math and
science educators, research scientists and publishing
professionals to include mathematical notation in printed
documents and web pages.

In addition to providing support for Office 2004, MathType 5.1 is
built for Mac OS X, runs on OS 9, and is a major upgrade for
MathType 3.x users. The new version has all the features of
MathType for Windows: hundreds of new mathematical and technical
symbols and templates, a toolbar and menu commands that turn
Microsoft Word into a powerful math word processor and web page
editor, batch EPS export and color support for professional
publishing, translators to TeX, LaTeX and MathML, and the
company's new MathPage(tm) technology for converting Word
documents to web pages that display and print high-quality
mathematical notation. Equation Editor users can now work with
Word documents created by MathType users via the freely
downloadable MathType Lite.

Anyone can download MathType from the Design Science web site and
try it free for 30 days. MathType is $129, the academic price is
$99, upgrades from MathType 5.0 for Macintosh to 5.1 are free,
and upgrades from other versions are $49.95. Purchases can be
made on the Design Science web site, by phone, or through any of
