Any HIDDEN Entourage database files on system for lost data?

Does MS hide any extra Entourage 2004 database files on my system?

Updating from Tiger to Leopard on a too full drive, my Entourage database reverted to my last Database Utility rebuilt version (March 2009). Is my original un-rebuilt June 2009 still anywhere?

I've checked all my MUD folders and Identities (in several places on 3 drives) and EVERY copy, back-up database I saved appears to be overwritten back to March. HOWEVER, the Creation date of a couple of them still say June, while the Modified and Last Used dates say March.

Are the 3 missing months gone forever; or, might there be a hidden June version still somewhere on my system? (The vRge message pointers in the Cache's Metadata (MS Entourage) folders still show June messages, but "cannot be found" when opened.)

Thanks for your help!

No, but the OS has a folder called 'lost & found' (see below). When things
so wonkers, files can sometimes go to this folder. Often they just go
"poof."

BTW, how much free space do you have now. You need a minimum of 10% free
space on your drive. Use the Activity Monitor to view this info under the
Disk Usage tab.

Your Identity is named Main by default and should be in this location:

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/Main Identity

The 'can't be found for a cache file is typical when the Identity is not
found. There is a script for Tiger only that can help restore the cache
files as messages. <http://tinyurl.com/lajz7b>

For recovering from "lost+found":

Have you tried choosing Switch Identity from the Entourage menu?

Hi, Diane.

(Oops, I tried to email you back but reply went to hyperspace.)

I appreciate your reply so much, so knowledgeable.

I downloaded the tiny url script, but am unsure how to use it. It appears to be working in the background. But I cannot determine results.

There are several (supposedly back up) identities on my drive, so I am not sure if I need to isolate the one with June creation date for the script?

Also it says something about Spotlight cache.

Where should I see the restored messages at?

Lost+found found nothing. I now have enough free space (but at time of loss was marginal). No rebuilds of located databases (several) get me anywhere past April 2009.

I have renamed my Main identities as Josef Klus 2009 (not Main), had SEVERAL copies, various places. All found in Office 2004 Identities folders are backdated to March 2009, except the one in April.

Please tell me more about the script.

Your help is appreciated IMMENSELY!

Josef

PS (Adam, I have Switched several times, cannot locate a current database that has not been written over by the earlier one from rebuild.)

- this script requires the installation of the scripting addition "Property
List Tools"
-- (freeware from from LateNight Software) at

Did you install these?

I don't have Tiger so really can't comment on the script or test to see how
it works.

Have no clue. Most likely on the desktop in a folder.

It sounds like your database went poof and/or you emptied the trash before
finding it.
