Entourage will not switch identities when allother programs closed

Processor: Power PC

1. Entourage suddenly will not let me switch identities. The error message tells me to close all MS, Office, and Messenger programs--which ARE already closed, including Notifications. Restarting Entourage doesn't help.

2. When Database Utility makes Entourage compacts and backs-up my Identity, it only copies over the Rules folder and none of the others in the Identity, like database, signatures, etc. Although it does add a new numbered Old Database file within the current Identity. How to get it to back up the whole ID folder?

3.Is there anyway to merge the two Identities, so I don't have to keep switching? (Have my personal and business ID's separate, not realizing I'd have to close everything else to toggle between them--a major inconvenience.

Thanks for your expert help! (e-mail address removed)

Did you check with the Activity monitor that they are indeed not
running? Not even the Notitications or MyDay? Would you see that as well
right after rebooting the Mac?
