Cannot switch identities

I know that you have to quit all Microsoft Applications to switch
identities in Entourage. I'm using Entourage 11.3.6 on an Intel-based
MacBook Pro.

In the past, I would quite MS applics and switch. Then it would still
give me that message "To Switch identities, quite MSN Messenger and
all MS Office Programs..." So I would restart the computer. And then
I could switch.

Now, I get that message ALL THE TIME and I am absolutely unable to
access my other identities. I don't have any relevant startup items,
and I leave the Office Notifications Off all the time....

Help!

First determine where the problem is located. In System Preferences create a
new test User. Open Entourage and create a blank Identity then use Switch
Identity to create and open a second Identity. Does it work?

If yes, then it's in your User's folder. If no, then it's in your system
files. I would apply the latest Apple combo updater and see if that helps.

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update (Intel)

If it in your User's folder, then the first thing to try is rebuilding your
database. Quit any applications that are running, including virus-protection
applications, all Office applications, Microsoft Messenger for Mac, and
Office Notifications, because they might interfere with rebuilding.

If rebuilding does not help, then next try deleting Entourage preferences.
