trouble accessing identities in entourage 2004

We have two identities in entourage : "john" and "vema". I never have
trouble switching from john to vema but going the other way is a hit
or miss affair. nine times out of ten I get a warning to close all
other office programs and msn messenger before trying to switch....
but everything else is already closed! it seems to be getting
worse...at one time the problem could be cured by restarting the
computer or closing office notification but this now works less and
less. HELP!!!!

Yeah, that's probably because one of the identities is usong the
DAtabase Daemon (used for notifications, Messenger address book
integration, etc...)

You can always launch the Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities),
look for the database daemon from there and quit it.

The other option of course would be to disable notifications for
instance, but you might not want to do that :-\

Try quitting Notifications before switching.

You should consider using Fast User Switching to open a new User for your
second Identity rather than using two Identity in the same User. This is the
intended way for multiple users to use the OS.

It's also possible that multiple Identities will be removed in future
versions of Entourage. You lose Spotlight searching of the other Identities.

In addition, this does not sound like database corruption, but what you are
describing indicates some sort of corruption or conflict.
