Any way to edit the Percentage Allocation in Task Usage view

can I edit the Percentage Allocation directly in project professional without
actually changing the Work hours?
elaborating on this: If I need to make the %Allocation for a particular
resource in a particular task for a specific day from 100% to 50%, where work
is Showing 8h.
I would like to change the percentage from 100 to 50 rather than changing
the hours from 8 to 4.

While in the Task Usage view, click Window - Split. This applies a "split
screen" view consisting of the Task Usage view in the top pane and the Task
Form in the bottom pane. Select the task in question in the top pane. You
will see the assignment information in the bottom pane. In the bottom pane,
change the Units value from 100% to 50% and click the OK button. If the
Task Type is either Fixed Units or Fixed Work, Microsoft Project will not
change the Work hours, so Work will remain set to 8 hours, but Microsoft
Project WILL change the Duration accordingly. Hope this helps.
