AutoRecover error

We just had a brief power outage, I try to use document recovery in PP and
when i select on the file to open, I get the following dialog box:

PowerPoint can't read the outline from C:\......path No text converters
installed for this file type.

I sure am hoping this is not as fatal as it sounds. I checked Autorecover
settings and it appears to be configured and is on.

Any words of wisdom? I sure would like to recover my files.
