Background in Word document

Hello,

I apply Format->Background->Fill Effects->Gradient->One color. File->Print Preview makes the same document view, but after convertation to the pdf format through virtual printer the gradient fill spoils and the background looks striped.

How is it possible to fix the problem? What are other ways to set the background in Microsoft Word document?
