Big problems after moving project to a larger hard drive

Anton Federkiewicz

We recently upgraded the hard drive on the server that houses PWA. Went from
40 to 80 GB by:
1. Copying the entire drive contents
2. Replacing the drive with the larger one
3. Replacing the contents of the drive
4. Restarting services
SQL server starts up. Sharepoint services starts up. I know that because I
can access the sites individual for each of my old projects. The only thing
that won't start is PWA. Project Server's IIS root is on this drive as well
as the SQL server. I keep getting the following error out of the browser:

Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'

'this.oResMgr' is null or not an object

/ProjectServer/Library/LocalizedStrings.asp, line 44

Anton,

My first impulse is that you should either get your boss to mellow out or
look for new job.

Anyway, it looks like PWA is looling for the DLL that has all the localized
strings. Could be that copying changed file permissions somehow.

Also, can you connect to the DB through Edit Site?

I am being dramatic...LOL

I did connect to the DB. It appears to be intact. Sharepoint sites all
come up normally. That is I can access each project workspace directly. The
Sharepoint admin site is normal. Only the Project home/admin etc deliver
this error.

Could the copy and paste have changed the files in some way? Maybe that
..dll was unregistered?

We kept the same drive letter and we always use a separate drive for
applications installs(E:). Could permissions have changed on the virtual
root files located in that drive from the cut/paste?

I'm about to re-install project server and hope that it sets up again on the
existing DB and Sharepoint sites. I assume that the database is where
EVERYTHING is stored? Documents/photos as well as the project files? My
people use this collaboration feature heavily...that's why we were increasing
the size of the drive.

I re-installed project server. This solved the problem. I had to manually
recreate the links for each project to SharePoint sites but it went rather
smoothly.

One thing that I am noticing is that sharepoint sites are opening a little
slower. I will try to work that out. thanks for all your help.
