Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I recently installed Exchange 2010 for a client,
and i have upgraded Entourage on one of the Macs to Web Services Edition, but no matter how many times i try, i cannot get it to connect to the Exchange server. It just stays as "not connected" and doesn't display any error message. I have tried all sorts of troubleshooting, I can access OWA as the user fine, and i get a responce when i goto https://servername/ews/exchange.asmx
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am desperate!

Go to Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> General Preferences -->
General and enable "Enable logging (troubleshooting)". Restart Entourage
and you'll see a file appear on your Desktop. It should give you some
insight into what is happening.

Hope this helps!

What you get if you try to access https://servername/ews/exchange.asmx on a browser?

thanks for the replies,

I should of mentioned, i had tried generating the Entorage log files and reading them, they didn't mean too much, its at a clients site so i can't give you the log file right now, but i will try and get a copy.

whjen i visit the https://servername/ews/exchange.asmx i get a xml file returned on a pc with IE, and on a Mac with Safari it returns a blank page, but i don't know if this is just because Safari cannot display a XML file...

take it i should just have the servername in the email server name field? have tried servername, ip, full servername.domainname.local and even the servername/ews/exchange.asmx but nothing works. The client really wants email on their Macs!

Use Firefox. That will display the XML.

thanks for all your help,

in the End the problem was on the Exchange 2010 server, i had to enable basic authentication on ews via the powershell (it seems basic authentication is disabled by default)
so the powerscript line:
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -identity "SERVERNAME\EWS (Default Web Site)" -externalurl http
s://SERVERNAME/ews/exchange.asmx -basicauthentication:$true

did the trick for me! (the basicauthentication:$true is the important part) Hopefully this helps someone else in the future from this headache.
