Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I can't see an excel file that I've opened. Double clicking the file launches Excel but I can't see the document. I've tried opening through excel/file/open....etc it didn't work too.

Note that this problem is only for some files not all

Try this:
Go to menu "Window"--> "Arrange"--> "tiled".

Some instances of similar behaviors have been traced to lack of Office 2008
updates. Since you don't indicate your current update level that's the first
place to start. Make sure Office is fully updated (12.2.4) & do the same for
OS X - I believe 10.5.8 is current for Leopard.

If updates aren't the solution & Su-Z-Q's suggestion doesn't help please
provide a more complete description of the situation. What is different
about the files that do display properly & those which don't? Exactly what
do you mean by "I can't see..."? Does the window appear at all? Is it
completely blank when it does appear? Are you seeing gridlines but no data?
