Can't create Tasks in ON2007 or send Tasks from Outlook

The first time I tried to create an Outlook 2007 task from One Note 2007, it
gave me a "Cannot create task" error and now the Task button in One Note is
grayed out, doesn't work no matter what.

Furthermore, there's no way in Outlook to send a Task to One Note, no button
of any kind. It's there for emails and works correctly, but nothing when it
comes to Tasks.

Any idea on why the two apps aren't synching for Tasks?

Try running:
Menu: Help-Office Diagnostics...

If no improvement, please reply specifying OS.

Hi David,

I already ran the diagnostics and the only thing that came up was a notice
to allow Outlook to download a file to help with diagnosis and a reference
about waiting a week to receive it. When I first searched the Q & A's,
someone reported a similar problem, yet there was no resolution posted.

I'm running Vista SP1 with Office 2007 Enterprise. No problems with moving
emails between One Note and Outlook, just no integration with Tasks (no "send
to One Note" in outlook tasks and a "send Task to Outlook" button in One Note
that doesn't work.)

Let me know if you need any other details.

Jason

If the file is downloadable, why do you need to wait a week?
Would you post the notice details back?

I just ran the diagnostic again. It seems to indicate no immediate problems
were found but then prompts to connect to the MS server for further
direction. Here is the page it connects to:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/diagnostichelp.aspx?ShowHelp=30,15,23,25,11,10&Responses=

Look in the section titled "Update Diagnostic--Unable to access a required
file", point 3 under Outlook. That's where the direction came from. I
followed the directions as given and made the change yesterday.

Any error messages in your event logs?
Start-Run, eventvwr.msc
In particular look in Microsoft Office Diagnostics, Microsoft Office
Sessions and Applications for any recent error entry with red X (it is
actually a white X in a red circle).

So can you run Microsoft Update or Office Update without error?
