Can't read MIME?

D

DG

Hi
I get some email messages (usually ads) that I can't read - and sometimes I
want to! They usually have a first line that says something along the lines
of "This is a multi-part message in MIME format."
Is there a setting I can make in Outlook so that I can read them?
Thanks
David

Outlook can handle MIME messages just fine. That's how attachments sent to
you from other Internet addresses reach you. They're sent as MIME-formatted
messages. So are HTML messages. Moreover, Outlook handles multipart MIME
just fine.

Be more specific. What version of Outlook? What type of MIME
(quoted-printable, BASE64)? What are the Content-Types of the various parts
of the message?

Thanks for replying.

I'm using Outlook 2002 SP3 in Windows XP Pro.

Below is the first few lines of the message.

Thanks again.

Nothing you presented looks unusual and Outlook should be able to handle the
types you show. However, what's in the headers above that point?
Right-click the message in the Inbox and choose Options. What are the
headers in that window?

Don't post any sensitive information like IP or email addresses. Edit them
to something innocuous. My suspicion is that something in the introductory
headers may be causing the issue.

One thing that looks funny here is the blank lines between the header
fields - a blank line indicates the end of the header, so Outlook would
think that only the first line was in the header and interpret the rest as
message body. Are those blank lines really there, or are they an artifact
of copy/paste/post?

The problem is that the messages are not properly formatted MIME, then.
Those blank lines are killers.
