Bought my son a laptop and then Office Home & Student. The store installed
it, gave me the software and said I can install it on 2 other computers. I
installed it on mine, but now its asking for the product key in order to
register and back up everything online. Can't find the key on software box
and I will lose all my documents if I don't register it within the 30 day
period. HELP!!!

Okay, first, you will not lose all your documents if you don't activate
within the 30-day period. Office is not so malicious as that. You will be
unable to use the software to edit your documents or create new ones, but
they will not be deleted or magically disappear or something.

Finally, if you've looked on the box, the DVD case, the "instruction" manual
and all that for the product key, and you still don't see it, take the
software back to the store where you bought it and ask them for the key.
It's either somewhere you're not looking or they did not include it when they
gave you the software.

On my version the product Key is on the slide-out section that contains the
CD....not on the outer box.

In addition to the other responses:

Suggest you look at the DVD the store gave you for your son's laptop. Does
the DVD label state "for sale only with a new computer"? If so, the store
sold you a OEM version. OEM versions of Office usually can only be
installed on the computer that they were initially installed.
