Can't See New Task on Tracking Gantt?

G

Gary

Hi all, hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with project for
work. Currently I am in the process of tweeking and changing little things
like durations and dates within Project in relation to my works overall
programme of projects, before rebase-lining the whole thing in April.

One thing that we're doing is adding another task in each project ( a
Maintenance phase after our Construction phase), now I can see this
maintenance phase in the Gantt view but when I switch to the Tracking Gantt
view the phase is gone/not there and there's only the construction phase with
a linking arrow to nothing.

If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Gay.

Hello Gary,

Have you modified your Tracking Gantt chart to only show baseline bars?
(Check Format > Bar Styles) Have you saved a baseline for the
Maintenance task?
I assume the Maintenance task is not a subtask and collapsed up under
the Construction phase task? (Choose Show > All Subtasks from the
Formatting toolbar) I assume no filters are applied to the view? (Make
sure "All Tasks" is displayed in the filter drop-down.)

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks for the tips, but nothings changed unfortunately.

I have modified the Tracking Gantt (Format>Bar Styles) for baseline bars
although I haven't yet rebase-lined although I assume once I do that the
baseline bar will appear although it's not the baseline bar I'm having the
problem with at present.

No filters have been applied to the view, "All Tasks" is showing. The
Maintenance and Construction phases along with a couple of other phases are
subtasks of the summary task (which is the project title). Now in the Gannt
Chart view I can open up each project and see all the subtask linked one
after the other, Maintenance being the last one. However when I switch to the
Tracking Gantt view and open up any project all the subtasks are able to be
seen linked to one another except Maintenance which has disappeared, the last
one being construction and a linking arrow as I said linking to nothing. It's
not that I can't see the baseline bars it's that in Tracking Gantt view I
can't see the subtask bar for the Maintenance phase in the Tracking Gantt
chart.

I hope that all makes sense!

Gary.

Hello Gary,

Makes perfect sense, as you describe it, but it does make for a puzzler.

Did you customize the display of tasks in the Tracking Gantt view and
change the one of the task bars to white? I'd guess it's the critical
task bar that's been customized if the Maintenance task is the last task
in the project.

If you'd care to, zip the offending file and send it along to me by
email. I'll take a peek and see if I can spot the trouble. My email is

JulieS, email sent to you with a shortened version of my programme but still
with the problem.

Very much appreciated!

For those following, it was an issue with custom bar definitions and not
having the correct Flag field set to pick up the bar style.
