Can't see pen ink while drawing

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I'm new to OneNote; apologies if it's
been covered.

Using a non-tablet PC with all updates for XP and Office. After selecting a
pen to draw, say an arrow or circle an item, I see a "dot" cursor, but when I
click my mouse and "draw," the ink does not become visible until I release
the mouse button. So I end up hoping that what I'm drawing looks something
like it will turn out to be...but I won't know until I'm finished. On the
video demos of OneNote, the ink is visible as drawing commences. Any ideas
what I have set wrong or need to do make drawing visible while using the pen?

I also have this problem on a desktop PC. I can't see the ink as I
draw--only when I release mouse button does the ink appear. Anybody got
a solution?
