Can't Uninstall / Reinstall Word 2002

I recently replaced the hard drive on my PC. Once I did this, Word 2002
yelped that thjs product needed to be reactivated. I tried doing the usual
activation routine, but I still did not end up with an active version of
Word. I tried to uninstall Word 2002, figuring that I could then simply
re-install it to activate it. When I tried doing this, I got a message box
that read:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verigy that this is a valid Installer patch package."

So I can't activate Word and I can't uninstall Word. I tried the MS Word
support site, but they do not support the version of Word I have (it came
with MS Words 6). Does anyone know how I can fix this?
