changes in resource usage view

Nico

Hi,

I am trying to make MS Project to automatically increase the duration of the
project when manually changing the work time in a particular day on the
project, for a resource.

For example, let's say that a resource must work on a project for 3 hours a
day and as such the project completes in one week. What I want is to mark
that in a day the resource dis not work on that project (by entering 0h as
time allocated for the project for the day), and MS Project to see that and
automatically increase the duration of the project with one extra day,
because the work allocated for the project is fixed. At the end I want to see
that in the middle of the project the resource did not work for a day on it,
and as such the overall duration of the project has been increased.

I have not been able to do that from resource usage view. Is there a way to
do this ?

Thanks

Hi,

Tools, change working time, make the nonworking day a nonworking day :)
For the whole project or just for that resource, depends on exactly what you
want (was not clear from your post)

Thank you for your answer, but making saturday a working day is not what I
need. For me a project has a fixed number of working hours that spread evenly
through out the project duration.

Do detail my example, I know that a project will take an estimate of 30
hours to complete, and I have only one resource able to work on it 3 hours a
day. That makes the project take 10 working days.

Now if the resource does not work on the project in a particular day, he/she
should be able to mark zero effort for that day in the resource usage view
and MS Project to automatically move the deadline one day further as to
allocate the 3 hours that were not used.

Is this possible ?

Hi,

Yes, but to tell you exactly how, tell me whether this is about the future
(the resource PLANS not to work on that day) or in the past (the resource is
recording when he/she HAS NOT worked)
