Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I have been getting the above error almost constantly for the last month or so.

Every time I verify the database, it says it's fine and I have rebuilt the database several times too.

I have also created a new identity a couple of times and that seems to fix the problem for a day or so then I start getting the error again.

I do see able to access my email and identity if I just ignore the error messages, but am concerned that this might be the symptom of a larger issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your Entourage database size?

I have been getting the above error almost constantly for the last month or
so.

Try deleting this preference file in your User's --> Library Preferences:

com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist

Other options to check:

* Bad RAM.
* Being low on disk space. To check your disk space, use the Activity
Monitor. Click on Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar and select the volume
where you have Office installed. You can also use Disk Utility to see
detailed information about a disk or volume. To learn more, open Disk
Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder and refer to Disk Utility
Help.
Every time I verify the database, it says it's fine and I have rebuilt the
database several times too.

If you use File > Export > as Entourage archive (.rge) file for all items,
do you get an error at completion?
I have also created a new identity a couple of times and that seems to fix the
problem for a day or so then I start getting the error again.

How did you create the new Identity? Do you have other accounts other than
the Exchange account?

This does suggest that there is a corrupted record that rebuild is not
getting rid of or it is but its possibly getting repopulated from your
Exchange environment.

Sometimes rebuild just does not fix the problem. In this case,
creating a brand new empty identity (a touch of a hassle) and
exporting your data from the old problematic DB to the new DB as an
rge file generally does the trick. You loose your categories and links
but the new DB should now work smoothly. If the error comes back
somehow a bad record is getting into even your new DB. Tracking that
down would be a real hassle.

The only thing that you might do at this point is leave the currently
active DB behind as an archive DB to switch to to retrieve info and
start with a fresh DB with no records until you start populating. This
would have a couple of advantages. The new DB is now very small in
size and thus more efficient and it should be without any corrupt
records unless Exchange brings it back.

Going back to archival DB's to keep your active DB is actually good
practice. On Outlook under Windows it has an automatic archive
function so that you can trim you DB when its starting to get too
large. In Entourage, if you've never used Outlook, I find Entourage
users sometimes will just let their DBs grow to ridiculous sizes not
being aware that it is good practice to archive data that is getting
old, that might need to be accessed occassionally but that doesn't
need to be part of your daily active environment.

Oddly enough, I haven't been able to find com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist
I looked for it previously as I found that might sort out a fix, but couldn't locate it then either.

The System Profiler shows the RAM status as 'ok'.
I checked my disk space with the Activity Monitor and have 51.1 GB free.

I tried the export and didn't get any error messages.

Our SysAdmin created the new Identities (he's tried a couple of times), both times completely from scratch.
I don't have any other accounts except for the Exchange account.

Oddly enough, I haven't been able to find
com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist

It¹s called com.microsoft.entourage.office_reminders.plist for 08.

It would help to know how he did this.
I checked my disk space with the Activity Monitor and have 51.1 GB free.

Is the 51GB at least 10% free space?

Thanks. I deleted that file and am still getting the error.

My company has their own desktop set up so basically he said: "Your Entourage is linked to a Exchange server. So all your database identity does is mirror the Exchange. Given this, it is quite easy to recreate your identity - literally just deleting the database file will do the job. When Entourage then loads up it realises that you are missing your Database file and starts recreating it.

I went one step further to insure that you didn’t have any corrupt preferences and rebuilt your MAC user profile again simply by deleting it. And allowing the company desktop do its thing and recreate your profile anew."

Yes, there is about 45% free space.

I'm having the same issue. I find that if I wait a few minutes after rebooting, the error won't occur. This error only seems to happen when I try to run Entourage immediately after booting the computer. I've managed to replicate the error by starting Entourage right after the boot and managed to replicate not having an error by waiting about five minutes before starting it.
