Copied images turn black when animation is added in PPT

Erich Zimmerman

I am using Office Small Business 2003, and I am having a problem with
animations.

I copied a number of images/drawing objects from Word to PowerPoint (as a
Windows Metafile). Everything copies fine, and the static slide looks fine.
However, when I animate ANYTHING on the new slide, some (but not all) of the
copied objects get colored black during the slide-show. They still look
normal in the design view.

Might I be copying incorrectly from Word? I just don't know why it would do
this.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. It gave me ideas of things to try, none of which worked.

1. I completely turned off the hardware acceleration in Windows, and it
didn't change anything.
2. I checked and unchecked the 'use graphics acceleration' in my Slide Show
settings, and nothing changed.
3. I went ahead and changed the resolution for the presentation, to no effect.
4. I set the color level on my display to 16-bit, again to 'no effect.'

Sorry to say 'question answered' - you did give some good advice, but it
didn't solve the problem....

I noted this behavior when an object's animation is set to Dim after
animation.

As a long shot, is this the case in your animations?

Please make sure, that Office 2003 is up-to-date with the latest updates.
If Service Pack 2 is installed, this should solve a lot of problems with
graphics.

Best regards,

Well, that doesn't work as I would like.

In the Word document, there is a picture. If I copy the picture as a whole,
then paste it as a PNG, it works. But then, I cannot animate the individual
drawing objects. If I click 'Edit Drawing', then select all the drawing
objects, I can Paste those as PNG, but they all appear black when copied that
way (animation or no animation). If I take that same approach (select the
Word drawing objects) and paste as Enhanced or Windows metafile, they only
turn black during the slide-show when something on the page is animated.

If you have a link to some guides for working with images, drawing objects,
and animations, I would really appreciate it. I might be able to sort through
the problem that way.
