Corrupt .CAB file on Office XP

Ricky

I have had to re-format my disk and re-install Windows XP and Office XP.
Win XP was no problem, but when I try to load Office XP from the disc, I get
a message saying "Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Office1.cab' required for
this installation is corrupt and cannot be used."
I had no problem loading it the first time - about 18 months ago - so cannot
understand why I now have a corrupt file on the disc. How can I get around
this ??
I cannot get past this message and cannot load any programs from Office XP

I Googled for ---error 1335 Office1.cab corrupt ----Until expert shows up do
the same and read ALL of this one:::

***Here are 3 Successes from it***

Ozrik :In the end it was a simple solution, I used a different drive and it
all loaded fine, the original drive must not have read the disk correctly!

buffmed::I came up against this same problem myself. I tried everything in
the Microsoft Workarounds with MSConfig, flatcopy, only installing 1
component, etc. and nothing worked. Finally, I hit on this idea: I took a
computer that MSOffice installed on without the office1.cab error and put my
CD in that computer. I then shared that computer's CD-ROM drive on my home
network and installed Office on the destination computer over the network
from the CD-ROM drive of the computer where I knew it worked. Result, the
error was bypassed and Office installed correctly. You just have to find a
computer where it installs okay. I used the CD-ROM of my laptop to install
office on my Tower. Hopefully this will work for you too. I suspect the
problem will appear again when adding additional components, so I would
suggest a full install.I have done this for a few people and it has worked
100% of the time.

tomb1::: I was having the same problem today! Tried to install Office XP
from Install CD. Got halfway through the set-up process and it stopped for
the same error, "OFFICE CAB 1 is corrupt". Tried copying the Office CD to the
hard drive and running install from there. Same CAB 1 error. I made sure
system was showing all files and folders and protected operating system files
and tried to install once again from hard drive. I got the same CAB 1 error.
Tried to install from the CD again, same CAB 1 Error :dead:I did an "explore"
on the CD. Found the CAB 1 Zip file and copied and pasted the Zip file to the
copy on the hard drive and left it over write the Zip file in the folder on
the hard drive. Ran the install from the hard drive again and everything
installed with no problem. Don't ask me why but it worked and now I am happy.

Many thanks. Not having two pc's or a home network, I'm going the route of
copying the CD to hard drive. However, I'm now puzzled how to install from
hard drive.
I am looking for setup.exe but can only find a number of setupxxx.exe files
there. Does this mean that I have to click on each of the setupxxx.exe files
-- or -- have I missed something ?? (I did make sure that ALL files &
folders were visible including system files before I copied CD)
