I have already asked this question but omitted details. I cannot see how to edit my last question so am asking a new one.

When u have created the account using the assistant, you are told that set up was successful, but when u click on the hotmail icon in the left column you receive the following error message:

HTTP error: Access to the resource is forbidden.
explanation: The Windows Live Hotmail folder could not be received

Mail accounts from Windows Live Hotmail Plus (formerly MSN Hotmail Plus),
can be set up in Entourage by using the Account Setup Assistant.

Free Windows Live Hotmail accounts cannot be set up in Entourage.

Is your account a Free account? If yes, then I suggest you check out Gmail.
It's free and it works with Entourage.

Add a hotmail account in Entourage and it will provide an error message with
the link when you attempt to get hotmail email and it fails because you
don't have the plus subscription yet. That's how I found it.
