Cube Build Error. 4 of the NT accounts could not be added to OLAP

S

Shawn Everingham

Had a cube error trying to rebuild it.

It seems like everytime we reboot the server I have to create another cube...

question 1: Why?

so...having gone down this path before, you simply rebuild the cube giving
it a new name.

well....this time it didn't work...

here's my log and I'm stuck...

Hi Shawn,

To get to you first question, what is the situatiion when you reboot the
server. Why did you conclude to build another cube. It should not be a
problem after a reboot.

For your other problem. The message about the 4NT accounts is not preventing
your cube being build. It means that you have active user accounts in your
project server defined with NT accounts that are not in the AD anymore. They
cannot be added to the cube, because the accounts do not exist.
The reason that your cube is not building is little bit tricky as there is
not enough info in this log. Could you try to process the cube manually from
the SQl management studio and provide us with the error details it gives
there?

and, how exactly do you do that? I have full access to the database via Sql
Management Studio, so if you'd be so kind as to point me in the right
direction, tha'td be appreciated.

Don't know why I have to recreate the cube. I rebuild the cube via PWA
server settings every monday morning to build timesheet reports in
dataanalysis.

This past monday morning, (post reboot) I got this error. I've had a similar
build error before (but not the same) so...smarty pants me, made a new cube
as that is what resolved it last time...upon further investigation, the
message was 4 nt accounts...now I'm stuck...

when in the Management studio , connect to Analysis services. Then exapnd the
object explorer to the OLAP databases. Right click on the one that belongs to
you project server and choose option 'process'. In next screen klik ok and it
will process (refresh data) the cube. It will give you errors which you can
copy and paste here (i hope)

let us know how it goes..

Sorry, but I'm no dba...can you be a little more specific on how to connect
to Analysis Services?

What I see when I connect the db server which houses our MSPS databases, I
see folders beneath the server name...
Databases
Security
Server Objects
Replication
Management
Notification services...

under databases we have one for ProjectServer_Archive, Draft, Pulished,
Reporting, Shared Services Admin, shared services db, sharepoint ...etc...

nothing that says Analysis Services...so where do I connect? under file new
connection?

Help a brother learn how to fish...thanks in advance!

Could you try to process the cube manually from
the SQl management studio and provide us with the error details it gives
there?

question 1: Why?

so...having gone down this path before, you simply rebuild the cube giving
it a new name.

well....this time it didn't work...

Hi Shawn,

WHat I notice
the error in the queue log is talking about analysis services database
MSPS_PROD_Cube_072008 (Failed to process the Analysis
Services database MSPS_PROD_Cube_072008 )

While the cube you processed in Management Studio is called
MSPS_PROD_Cube_072508 ( Database 'MSPS_PROD_Cube_072508' completed
successfully)

Question:
how many analysis databases do you see in Management Studio and what are the
names?

You could try to configure ProjectSErver to build the MSPS_PROD_Cube_072508
Cube which is working manually.
Also to try is to manually process the MSPS_PROD_Cube_072008 in Management
studio.

hope you get along little bit further now...
