DDE Server Window ... No Disk

After I open a copy of a powerpoint file on my dvd drive D:, attempts to open
the same file on my local C: drive result in an error ...

"DDE Server Window Powerpnt.exe - No Disk"

If I continuously hit the "continue" button, the file will eventually open.
What must I do to stop this problem?

This happened to me few months ago.... After many and many tries, I bought a
new quality DVD reader. Since then, no problem.
