Displaying Estimated and Actual Costs on a Gantt Chart - Proj 2007

D

Django

Appreciate it if someone could tell me how to enter estimated cost and the
actual cost on a Gantt Chart. I tried using Cost and Actual Cost, but they
just keep over-riding each other. I tried using Baseline Cost but it does not
tally the cost. Seems the Baseline Cost Column is in text. Hope someone can
make sense out of what I am asking.

Hi Django,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Project assumes that if you have entered an Actual Cost then this is now the
Cost - seems reasonable to me. Baseline Cost is produced as a snapshot of
what the cost is at the time of creating the baseline, and Project won't
change that - seems reasonable to me! You should therefore be able to show
Actual Cost and Baseline Cost.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Django

In addition to others' advice.

By default 'Actual Cost' data is calculated by the software. To enable the
option to input 'Actual Cost' data yourself go to Tools > Options >
Calculation > check out the option 'Actual costs are always calculated by
Microsoft Office Project'.

I hope it helps.
