Downgrading

Bought Office 2007 UPGRADE and am not happy with it. Want to return to using
Office 2003. Disk I have for 2003 is an UPGRADE version. My question is, can
I downgrade 2007 back to 2003 with the materials on hand? As we all now, the
upgrade process requires existing softweare to upgrade. Will it work as a
"downgrade".

Any suggestions short of trying to find a full-version of Office 2003?
Personally I like 2007. Problem is, the wife doesn't, so I'm trying to keep
the peace. Guess she'll have to understand we ca't do it! Many thanks, Warren

You can try and fid any qualifying product . Does not need to be new and see if any
available on places like EBay and etc. Qualifying product can be an earlier version
of Office or something like Word or Publisher . What did you Upgrade 2003 from ? Do
you still have it ??

You can install both the 2003 and the 2007 versions unto your computer at the same
time and have then both work. Only Outlook is the exception and it can only have
one instance installed.

Hi - I need to have both 2003 and 2007 so that I can check to insure
how my Excel programs look in both versions. I had 2007 on one laptop
and 2003 on another, but my old laptop finally died (with XP and the
2003 version on it). I was being honest, so I purchased Office 2003
and installed it today in a different folder on my Vista laptop. Now
every time I try to boot up Word 03, I get the license agreement
again. Then when I bring up Word 07, it starts with the reconfigure
screen, taking awhile to do so - but then it does boot up OK. Excel
03 also gives me the license agreement every time I access it, and
once I say OK, it comes up fine. Excel 07 seems to come up without a
hitch. I have Outlook loaded, but I do not use it at all. Is there
any way to stop this constant configure each time Word 07 comes up?
And to stop having to approve the license agreement each time I go to
the 03 versions? Thanks for your help...

Hi

I tried the first recommendation. The link to Microsoft looked like
the perfect solution. However, I am using Vista, and none of the
instructions relative to Vista worked. I can get to the H_Key file
folder they discussed (but not in the manner they described), but
there was no 'Permissions' file to modify. Perhaps it is a hidden
file and needs to be displayed somehow? I am not familiar with Vista
- frankly, so far, I find it cumbersome and difficult, but it could be
that I just am not familiar with it. Then, when I tried the other
recommended approach (running it as an administrator) and the
directions say to click on 'Run as Administrator' but Vista did not
give me the option of running the program as an administrator, even
though I am accessing as the administrator. The problem continues.
It is not debilitating, but it is a nuisance. The agreement screen
pops up every time I load the program, but when I go ahead and agree,
the program does function OK.

The second recommendation took me to the Windows Installer Clean-up
Utility to get rid of the Configuration screen that pops up every time
I try to use 07. However, the caution warnings for this utility are
so inclusive, that I am afraid of damaging my existing office 07
program files. I have long ago lost the disk for my 2007. I had been
running 2007 for a year or so - and I just loaded 2003 this week, as I
mentioned. Therefore I have the disk from 2003. But I do not want
to take a chance on damaging the file for 2007. It is a nuisance to
go through the delay with the configuration screen each time, but at
least the program does eventually load. Is there any solution that
you or anyone els could recommend for either problem?
