editing pictures in slides

K

Kitamba

I have PowerPoint 2000

I have received a pps file where most of the slides have pictures that
refuse to be selected for editing. Text in the same slides is editable ok and
s few of the slides have pictures that respond when selected.

When I right-click to select the picture all that happens is that the font
in the toolbar changes.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Cheers

Kitamba

My guess is that the slides where you can't select the pictures have the
pictures as the backgrounds, not as an element on the slide. To edit the
pictures, you would need to save a copy of the slide as a graphic and edit
that. (or ask the original developer of the presentation to send you the
pictures so you can adjust them and re-insert them.)

Make a copy of the slide without any text on it. Right click the slide. From
the right click menu, select the option to save as a picture. Voila - copy
of the slide as a picture! (Easy once you know, hard to figure out
otherwise. Sorry I wasn't clearer.)

Sorry to be a pain but I can't find a 'save as picture' option. Do I make a
copy with the EDIT tab?

I removed all the text and clicked on Copy in the Edit Tab, but do I then
need to paste it somewhere?

Ah - you are using 2007. Then you don't even need to make a copy of the
slide. Just position your cursor over an area of the slide that has nothing
but the background. Then do the right click and select "Save Background". It
should prompt you for where and how to save the graphic/picture.

You are right - he is. I saw Edit tab and jumped to a conclusion I shouldn't
have. Sorry...
