Entourage 2008 not saving password after SP2 update

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Upgraded to SP2 this morning, and ever since -- no passwords are being saved by Entourage.

I have tried deleting the password entries from the Keychain, but still no joy.

When going to Accounts setting, and saving there (as opposed to when the mail account checks and detects there is no valid password) -- if you tick 'save password' and click OK, then re-browse the account you just editted -- the password is not displayed (implying not saved).

Anyone else experiencing this; or have any advice?

Upgraded to SP2 this morning, and ever since -- no passwords are being saved
by Entourage.

Normally to test passwords not sticking, we ask users to delete the password
in the keychain, run keychain first aid. Delete the account in Entourage
(not just the info but the account) and enter the account again. If that
does not work, let's do some testing....

Under Entourage in the Menu bar select Switch Identity.
Create a new Identity
Enter your acount info and under the Options tab select to 'leave on server'
Test in this new Identity

If the problems go away this indicates problems in your current Identity. If
the problem still exists....

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Do the same test as
above.

If it works in the new User, then the problem is in your User's account.

Drag your Main Identity that is having the problems to Shared folder.(Be
sure Entourage is quit when making the changes.)

"/Users/Shared"

Switch back to the new test User and drag (it actually copies) your Identity
to this location.

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities/

Open Entourage and use Switch Identity if necessary to open your old
Identity. Does it work in the new User? If yes, it's not your Identity.

Let me know what you find.

Hi Diane -

Thanks for the prompt reply.

1. I created a new identify on my main user profile -- and this still prompts for password every time.

2. Then i switched to another user i already had (had never been used with Office). Office ran its setup wizard, then went into Entourage. Created new mail account (IMAP) -- but this still didn't save the passwords.

Email me directly if you want to discuss further testing, if you feel it is related to the OS version i am using (10.6).

Hi -

Seems to be resolved through an update to another product (will say no more here).
