Entourage ignores <br> in HTML emails

I'm receiving a simple email that looks like this:

<html>
<body>
text<br />
more text<br />
</body>
</hml>

Content-Type is text/html, but Entourage simply displays "text more text" -- there's no line break. I have complex HTML enabled, but this certainly doesn't fall into that category. Is there some other option?

If it's just email from one person and not all HTML it's just a badly
formatted HTML message.

I have the same problem. I've experimented with this, and it works if
the separator is "<br /> (with a space) but NOT <br/> without a space.
It has to be Entourage - MacOS Mail reads it fine. I've not found a
workaround for this, and the service bureau that's sending the email
with this construct figures it's not worth fixing...

In my case, I have control over the email and came to the same conclusion after a wasting a couple hours fiddling with it.
