V

Vit

Hi All,

I'm trying to customise the Workspace Template, but I don't know why
it doesn't work...

I have followed:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms503640.aspx

and

http://www.epmcentral.com/articles/wss3-sptcustom.php

but unfortunately it doesn't work...

when I publish the new project, in MS Project Pro 2007 it seems to be
ok (no error!!!!!!)

but no workspace have been created.....

if I reset the the defoult template, it works....

what I'm doing wrong???

to generate the template I have opened the workspace and save it as a
template (in the workspace, not in the sharepoint chetral admin.....)

thanks to all

Cheers

Hello Vit,

It seems to be you may be missing some key steps.

First let me know, what exactly you are trying to do? What kind of
customization that you are planning on default template.

Please note, important thing here is, you have to save stp file on
server machine and need to be deploy the stp file by using stsadm
utility. Also make sure at last step, your new template is appearing
in dropdown with default template.

If you have any questions and need direct help, feel free to send the
email to (e-mail address removed)
I will respond you with detailed steps.

Thanks
Chak

Thanks for your quick reply!!!!

the customisation is on the "documents" section... basically I want to
create a specific numeber of folder with a specific root....

What do you mean with "you need to be deploy the stp file by using
stsadm utility".... where can I find it??? I generate the stp file
using an existing workspace and dave it as a template....

thank you so much

Vit,

Please follow the below sequence of steps:

Step 1: Create an new site by using the default workspace
http://www.epmcentral.com/articles/wss3-customstep1.php

Step 2: Create the required folders on site

Step 3: Save the site as Template (stp file)
http://www.epmcentral.com/articles/wss3-customstep3.php

Step 4: Download stp file and save the site template on server (This
step is important,
make sure you are saving the stp file on one of the folder on server
machine, but not on
your local machine.)

Step 5 : Run the stsadm on server machine's command prompt to register
the stp file

http://epmcentral.com/articles/wss3-customstep5.php

Step 6: Set Site Provisioning Settings

Hi Chak, and thank you so much for your help!!!

I have followed the instruction and seems to work.... (before I
genereted the template not on the sharepoint central admin, but form a
generic workspace...)

I have just a problem: on the template, I have inserted on the
document section, 10 folfer (that I would like to have when I will
create e new workspace...)

everiting seems to be setted up properly, but the work spaces that I
have created after the setting, don't have the folders... (the
document section in emply....)

how can I check the template??? how can I insert the folder on the
template???

thanks again
