Error 42 when saving project to server

I'm receiving an error 42 message when attempting to save a project to
Project Server 2007. I can't find any specifics about this message online.
Can anyone provide some guidance? Sorry if I'm short of specifics but I
wasn't sure what might be pertinent to my problem. Let me know if you need
more info.

I finally got the plan to load and thought I'd share what i had to do with
the group in case anyone else runs into it. Can't explain exactly what Error
42 means but here's what resolved it for me.

The plan apparently had tasks that project Server doesn't like. After
several hours of research and tria and error, I determined that the tasks
causing the error all had the same characteristics in common. The tasks were
rollup tasks with predecessors assigned to the rollup. The duration of the
rollup was zero hours (detail tasks were all milestones) and the tasks were
not yet completed.

For a task to generate this error, it had to meet all 4 criteria. For
example, if the task was complete but met the other 3 criteria, it loaded
fine.

Hope this can be of help to others.

You're right Gary, and I've informed the PM that this wasn't a good practice.
But like you said, it still shouldn't have caused the system to croak.

Thanks
Bill

Generally speaking, it's a bad idea to link predecessor tasks to summary
tasks. With that said, what you did shouldn't cause the systems to choke!
I'll make sure this gets logged.

Bill,

I am having the same error/problem and just cannot solve. Is there a log
that I can look at 'where' the problem is ocurring? how did you determine
that those were the tasks that were causing the problem??

Thanks.
