Error opening Outlook 2003

Every time I start Outlook 2003 I get the following message:
An error occurred in the shortcuts folder file (.fav). Outlook will recreate
the default folder shortcuts.

Clicking Ok starts Outlook without any apparent problems. I read that 2003
does not use a .fav file, but everytime I start outlook I get the same
message.

I have searched every where for an answer with no success. There is no .fav
file on my computer. And while I have seen several people post the same error
I have not found an answer. Any ideas??? Thanks

There must be one on your computer still. Make sure you include hidden
folders/files in your search. The default location is;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Rename it to .old when Outlook is closed.

Thanks for the response, however I cannot find the outlook.fav file. I have
searched the entire computer including hidden files and folders. It feels
more like some registry setting telling outlook to open the file each time it
starts. Other Ideas?

Open Windows Explorer. In the Address field, enter

%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

Click Go. You should see the fav file.
