error publishing

FrontPage 2003
Publishing stops with an error: "the folder that would contain the
file......does not exist on the server". The file is a navigation .gif. I
have searched the site to find this file, but it does not appear.
The result in publishing is the navigation bars appear, but the labels are
absent.
Is there any way to complete publishing in spite of this error?

I am posting an answer to my own question:
If there are any broken links on the site, Frontpage will sto
publishing.
Go to the reports page and investigate all broken links listed.
Correct the broken links and publish.
When Frontpage generates an error stating that a file does not exist o
the server, it is referring to a broken link. This was in my navigatio
structure where the page referred to had been removed. If overlay i
part of the broken link, this is in a navigation bar
