Hi,

After some search, it seems to be hard to find the root cause of this
problem from the error information. So we may need some time on
troubleshooting. Based on my experience, Word crash issue may be caused by
the following reasons:

1. Some add-ins or macros in Word
2. Damaged Registry keys
3. Confliction between Word and other applications (Such as some Anti-Virus
applicatons)

#1 check updates, empty temp files
====
Go to Microsoft Update site to check and install the updates for both
Windows and Office 2003.

Click Start menu-> Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in the
Open box and press Enter. Empty the %Temp% folder. [Note: If you are unable
to empty temp folder, please come into Windows safe mode to empty the temp
folder: restart computer and keep pressing F8 to come into Windows safe
mode.]

#2 check addins
==============
If you have installed the Works Suite add-in , go to the Control Panel and
uninstall the Works Suite Add-in.

If you have installed Norton Antivirus software, please disable the Office
plug-in for Microsoft Office.

#3 check the following points:
===================
1. Disable Word Auto Macros
2. Rename Global Template (Normal.dot)
3. Delete Add-ins (WLLs) and Templates in the Word and Office Startup
Folders
4. Turn off COM Add-Ins
5. Delete Word Data/Options Key in the Windows Registry

For detailed steps, I recommend you refer to the KB article:

2007, Word 2003, or Word 2002

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

Hi,

Does the "Faulting application" issue only occur in Office 2003, or it also
occurs in other applications on the computer?

When you delete all the printers on the computer, and keep using Word 2003,
does Word 2003 still crash?

Click Start > Run > type winword /a, click OK. Keep running under Word safe
mode, does Word 2003 still crash?

I understand that you have uninstalled/reinstalled Office 2003. However,
the issue persists. The issue may be caused that the Windows Installer
files for Office 2003 was corrupted and it cannot fixed by normal
uninstall/reinstall process for Office 2003. Let's use the Windows
Installer Cleanup Utility to remove/reinstall Office 2003 to see if it
works.

1. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D
5E1BD/msicuu2.exe
2. After you install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, click Start
menu-> All Programs-> Windows Install Clean Up.
3. Highlight Microsoft Office 2003 entry in the list and then click Remove.
Quit the Utility.
4. Rename the "Microsoft Office" folder as "Office Old" which is located in
the C:\Program Files.
5. Click Start menu-> Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box and press Enter.
6. Locate the two registry keys below and click Delete from the Edit menu.
Click OK on the pop-up warning dialog box.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
7. Click Start menu-> Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box and press Enter.
8. Empty the %Temp% folder. [Note: If you are unable to empty temp folder,
please come into Windows safe mode to empty the temp folder: restart
computer and keep pressing F8 to come into Windows safe mode.]
9. Empty the Recycle Bin.
10. Restart your computer and then reinstall Office 2003.
11. Go to Microsoft Update site to check and install all available updates.

Test the issue again. What is the result?

Happy weekend!

| Hi,
|
| Does the "Faulting application" issue only occur in Office 2003, or it
also
| occurs in other applications on the computer?
|
| When you delete all the printers on the computer, and keep using Word
2003,
| does Word 2003 still crash?
|
| Click Start > Run > type winword /a, click OK. Keep running under Word
safe
| mode, does Word 2003 still crash?
|
|

| 3. Highlight Microsoft Office 2003 entry in the list and then click
Remove.
| Quit the Utility.
| 4. Rename the "Microsoft Office" folder as "Office Old" which is located
in
| the C:\Program Files.
| 5. Click Start menu-> Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks)
in
| the Open box and press Enter.
| 6. Locate the two registry keys below and click Delete from the Edit
menu.
| Click OK on the pop-up warning dialog box.
| HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
| HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
| 7. Click Start menu-> Run, type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) in
| the Open box and press Enter.
| 8. Empty the %Temp% folder. [Note: If you are unable to empty temp
folder,
| please come into Windows safe mode to empty the temp folder: restart
| computer and keep pressing F8 to come into Windows safe mode.]
| 9. Empty the Recycle Bin.
| 10. Restart your computer and then reinstall Office 2003.
| 11. Go to Microsoft Update site to check and install all available
updates.
|
| Test the issue again. What is the result?
